Battlefield 3™ leaps ahead of its time with the power of Frostbite 2, DICE’s new cutting-edge game engine. This state-of-the-art technology is the foundation on which Battlefield 3 is built, delivering enhanced visual quality, a grand sense of scale, massive destruction, dynamic audio and character animation utilizing ANT technology as seen in the latest EA SPORTS™ games.
“We wanted to create the most immersive and emotionally powerful Battlefield game ever and we needed new technology to deliver on our vision,” said Patrick Bach, Executive Producer.
Having built Frostbite 2 over the course of the last three years, this is not a minor iteration of what DICE has used before. Frostbite 2 has been built from scratch to match the design goals for Battlefield 3 and beyond.

Why oh why are all the BF fanboys sallivating over a game engine that looks like ****. Glitching , blocky awfull textures. Be honest , look at other games out there that are over a year old that are way way better Truth is , its damn awfull.

this game looks like the most amazing game i have ever seen in my life but can i add its unfair that the consoles get less benifits so im very sad i dont have a pc and i prefure using a controller so why dont console players get more players on online its not fair comon dice i know you can add more players for consoles and dont come up with any excuses like we cant make anymore players because you can look at homefront for example its got 32 players i mean comon other wise its a marvalus game

Homefront has awful graphics and audio though, and if you want Battlefield to have awful graphics and audio, then go right ahead and keep complaining about Battlefield's lack of online players and that DICE actually likes to have destruction, great graphics and audio.

PC is faster than your slow consoles. It's a fact. With the money you spent on that Xbox 360 or PS3 you could've gotten a half decent computer that does more than plays games. Plus its upgradable and you can buy a controller for it. Besides this franchise was built on PC players. Consoles get a backseat to us.

I wish they would make Battlefield Bad Company 2: Vietnam for Xbox 360 live and for PS3 just like they did with Battlefield 1943. That would be great because you would be able to play in the shoes of a man from every different war. Chronology is a big deal with me. I like going from WW2 to Vietnam to our current wars. Having every major conflict makes a big deal to some of us gamers and I really don't want to play on the PC. It would be good for DICE and the Battlefield series.

I agree except with medal of honor. Im sick of call of duty dominating, time for medal of honor and battlefeild to take over. I also heard that frostbite 2 is the engine that will power the next medal of honor.

Battlefield is actually older. Battlefield 1942 was released in september 2002 and first CoD was released on October 2003.

If you think Battlefield will fall then get the hell out of this site and go corner hump with your boys over at Infinity Ward, Battlefield hasnt fallen or has been dominated by COD. Its all about advertisements and faulty made up reputations that gave Call of Duty an unworthy title. I don't understand how people say the BO sucks but MW2 was better...its the same damn game, folks. List me more then 5 things that COD has changed from MW1 to Black Ops. I agree with Bubbles. Infinity Ward crumbled and was lost. So if you loved Infinity Ward so much, then I guess BF3 will be your game, in a sense. I play both games as well, but I agree that BF is better than CoD. So...yea. Go DICE.

Im sorry, i think you need to check your facts. IW didnt fire anyone, Activision fired the majority of the IW directors when they refused to make a **** game just so Activision could make more money. The reason that MW2 was so bad was because of new directors in the operation willing to kiss Activisions ***. I hope Battlefield 3 is gunna be sick, been a llong time fan and love how well this game looks!

Call of duty is already dead... Are they making improvement ? no they are only beating up records. Call of Duty is not dead, what facts do you base this off? None? thats right. BFBC2 was good, but Call of duty took the cake in the end (having a higher volume and constant stream of players), This time however, looks rather promising for the Battlefield franchise. (for BF3 respectively).

COD was already dead by the time Treyarch made their last COD game.Now all COD has is Infinity Ward unless they hire someone else which they wont so their just completely and brutally murdered by Infinity Ward now.

I agree. I have played 2 and I remember the fan base was large which is good for online players. 3 looks way better than cod, I am most likely to buy this since I got a new Asus G51 VX hopefully the game is optimized. Privet servers are a must! :)

honestly I have always been a call of duty fan because it was the series that brought me to FPSs with big red one but i fell in love with BC2. I agree cod went to hell with mw2. hopefully they redeem themselves with mw3 (ive heard rumors) i plan on getting both but im telling everyone that b3 will be better cuz theyve been working on it for 2 years unlike mw3 having less than one.

They haven't had enough time to build a new engine for MW3 it will be the same as 4 MW2 which is the same as MW1. BF3 Frostbite 2 is the best engine to be built ever and won't be beat for a long time as people can't be bothered they are just interested in spouting out as many games as possible to get money. DICE is one of the few developers that are totally bothered about quality. Its only because COD has been going so long unchallenged thet they keep selling but BF3 should kill it if COD Players will give it a chance. But alas a lot of them wont =( . Long live dice!

You know, when I learned that Battlefield 3 was in the making I knew it would be better than better. I knew it would change the way we look at first person shooters. I bet when you'll play this game then play a different game you'll laugh at the lack of quality and detail put into it. This game in my opinion is "Revolutionary" to video game history. All I have to say is I am amazed at the effort being put into this game. I know the gameplay will stand out but it's the multiplayer I'm exited for! You guys do a great job on the multiplayer, I haven't played another game like your's. It's the experience of war you put into your games. In the Medal of Honor (2010) multiplayer the bullets create an atual feel of impact when you get shot. I actually got adrenoline as I kept jumping from constant sniper rounds flying by my head. All I have to say is wow, I can't wait for Battlefield 3! You guys really do define online warfare. I can't wait until I can get a job at Digital Ilusions CE!

MoH was the worst game ever made of the current generation. It was like EA was butt slapping DICE to release the game the entire time they were developing. If you thought that was a good game, do BF3 a favor and set your computer on fire. BC2 owns MoH in every way possible and it came out before.... MoH had to use 2 seperate engines (UT3 - SP and Frostbite - MP) for multiplayer and singleplayer; that by itself defines how horrible that game is. They took BC2 and stripped it down to the bare essentials for consoles and changed the maps/textures so EA could call it a different game. If you felt anything while playing MoH you are going to **** in your pants when you play BF3.

Battlefield: Bad Company 2 is the reason I love the series! Battlefield 1943 was the first BF game I played then it was BFBC2 that blew me away! The use of teamwork amazed me, I never played a game like it... the destruction and vehicles just added more and more to the remarkable gameplay! I've always wanted to be a part of video game development. I have outstanding artistic skills for my age (15) and I'm fond with computers. Everyone says I'm very creative and this is something I can use all three of those things in. I seariously can't wait to work with DICE or EA! And this isn't one of those things where it's a dream job and it probably won't come true... I'm GOING to be working for one of these people!

Back in the day when Call of Duty and Battlefield 1942 came out, i'm glad i purchased 1942 and pirated COD because i felt i was investing in a unique franchise and this is the long waited title i've been patiently waiting for. The release of BF3 is #2 of things i love dearly, besides my daughter being born, so i just want to say YOU ******* ROCK DICE! May you all live forever on the battlefield! *sheds a tear but wipes away to watch Ep.1 for the billionth time*

It already did years ago, with Battlefield 2. After WoW, Battlefield 2 was the most played game on Xfire for a long time. And years above any CoD.

Dice has created the best engine to date but how cool the game may look the SOUNDS of BFBC2 are really good and better than the CoD series and now i hope they still are going to be cool in BF3 or better.

Looks are the best of any game (actually, I think for now Frostbite can compete ONLY with cryEngine 3, and Frostbite wins, hell yeah) but the sounds in Bad Company 2 (sorry DICE) aren't that better than Modern Warfare 2, for example. Actually, the sounds in Bad Company 2 sound a lot gamey-like and in MW2 they have a realistic feel. Still, Battlefield is a favourite - DICE ftw!

well yes looks of the game are also important. in nowadays most of the gamers want beuatiful graphics and so on. but i have to say that the weapon sounds from CoD really suck i don't really get it why they had to use weird gun sounds on the Famas and other weapons. but yes the sounds in CoD are good but i love the sounds of BC2 more for like when a (sniper) bullet passes by and you hear the cracking noise is cool and the echos are also great. I don't really understand what you meant with gamey-like sound for I think that the sounds of BC2 sound more realistic than MW.

The crackling noise is only 1 sound. Also, bullets make ONLY ONE crack when they pass. Anyway i wasn't talking about Black Ops (the FAMAS sound is insanely weird, yes). Modern Warfare 2 has sounds recorded from weapons as far as I know. When i sad the sounds are gamey like it is just all the guns sound almost the same. Ever played ArmA? Project Reality? THOSE are real gun sounds, THOSE are real bullet souds. Anyway I think the BF3 sounds are better than BC2

Well I don't know about ArmA (only played it for a few mins.) and its gun sounds for I have never fired a weapon in my life but still if I watch youtube home vids from people than in my ears the gun sounds are always identical. The only diffrence might be that a smaller caliber round isn't louder than a bigger caliber? But still if you say that ArmA game gun sound is more close to reality than i can't really agree even though its a mil-sim game.

I bought COD Black-ops just to check out the hype, and gotta say WHAT SCHLOCK!!!! *meh*. It's obvious that any TRUE FPS gamer wants Frostbite 2 and the Battlefield series. Let the kiddies play COD and I know the real players love what you guys at DICE are doing. You are truly defining the cutting edge in gaming. There is just nothing nor will there ever be anything out there as good as the Frostbite engine. DICE is doing today what the Unreal engine did for FPS way back in the old days. Its all said and done once you play these games even now If you play Battlefield bad company2 and go back to other Fps games you laugh at how old the tech is. Sure classes never die but one has to embrace the tech that drives forward and not backwards. Dice You have come a long way since 1942 and "Operation Eagle" Please take your time to develop and tweak any defects and don't rush your developers let them have time to create a next gen experience that we all can share. Best regards and Battlefield will live on as the best FPS modern times can achieve.

you cant camp becouse the new engine allow you to break down concrete blow up anthying in site and the bullet never disapear everything in batllefield can be mowed down thats why the COD fans cant handle the fact that there is no hope or chance of camping and getting away with it. there is only sniping and unlike COD you cant quick scope, no scope, any type of scope you just have to find high ground

Sniping and camping are not equal, a good Sniper will change location to avoid detection especially since they are often out in the open and thus vulnerable to attack, a camper will not move out a location where there is a chokehold on a map(usually hiding in a dark corner) with an automatic weapon. I have respect for Snipers, especially since I suck at Sniping.

400m headshot on Arica Harbor yesterday after getting shot in the chest by the same guy. If that isn't sniping, I don't know what is. But I do agree with you on sniping vs camping. My only problem with BC2 was the fact that you had all these people waiting for others to push by and then shooting them in the back. I didn't like that aspect of the game as it just made people angry and disappointed because they would spawn again and get killed by those same people over and over again.

Camping is not an issue with BF games because battlefield hasn't focused on that fast-paced action of Call of Duty games (that is, until bad company & bc2) but more on teamwork and as the name says, battlefields. Snipers, and thus camping, are a vital part of the modern battlefield. If you don't like it, blow the building they are in and that's it.

Heh, ya thats true. In BF2, when I sniped I would **** off the other team so bad, there commander would have to arty my position, I loved that. It means your doing your job. And if you didn't move most of the time, you could live through it, then you laugh, and keep sniping.
