COD has never nor will it ever hold a candle to the true Battlefield series which does NOT include BF:BC2 or any other console versions... to this day there has not been a game to replace battlefield 2 except ARMAII which is not an easy game to play. Homefront is cool but its falling off in multiplayer... I could go off believe me.

The detail Dice has put into these games is what makes them many times better than any of the COD games that have or will come out. The gunfire alone is one of the main things that draws me to this series. I think the little details like that are very important to any style of shooter. The gunfire sound effect from the COD games were generic CRAP if you ask me. The only reason they got the attention they did was because they were the first to make a game like that. They brought our attention to the genre and now Dice is absolutely perfecting it. Hey Dice, if I have an idea for a FPS game how would I go about presenting it to you? Seriously, I have an idea I've been working on for some time now. It would be amazing if I could formally tell you about it to get your thoughts. devilfan09@gmail.com. You said it perfectly my friend! The first episode was understanding, but this is just a tease really... I really hope part 3 is the majority "WTF,OMG,OH ****!" video :D ...Aswell as I hope we actually see that nuilding fall and more fire fights before release of the game. I, like many others, are much more interested in the multiplayer side if the game(personally for PS3 and ofcaorse! PC) I want to know if there are respawns majority of game modes, such things alike. If it is a more "hardcore", realistic gameplay experience online. This game looks, well sexy. Slow it down and check out the shots the sniper takes (all amazing destruction - O: - ) and slow it down when the us troops around you are shooting their guns, they actually pull the triggers approrpiatly !

The only part of the destruction that I dislike is the debris disappearing when or before it hits the ground. It would be much more realistic if the chunks of brick and solid rock hit the ground and rolled to a stop for example.

Yes, though, this is pre-alpha so the final product may actually have variable recognition for all "digital matter" in the game. I hope the debris, dust, ect is not just animation drawings but have a solid physical recognition. My only concern of why they would not do all this advanced things down to THAT (Rediculious) detail, is the consoles will not have the processing power for it all, especially not while online with over even 20 players connect, (I'm pretty sure they are inteligently using dedicated servers though)!

To the sound designer: Great job so far! You need to pay more detail to sound in such special scenes though. When shot by a sniper from such a distance and the impact point is as close to you as it is in the first shot in the video - you first hear the bullet crack and the impact sound instantly/mixed together. Then after a delay - the gun. If the bullet passes you, you hear the crack, then the impact. If the bullet impacts before passing you there is no bullet crack. And again, in the end, after a few miliseconds there is the actual GUN sound arriving at your location. In the video above I hear the gun, then the impact and sometimes even the bullet crach/whizz although it is not supposed to be there. See at 0:40 The GUN SOUND has to have a delay! Especially if the guy says "its a ****** 50", because a 50cal round is even faster than usual sniper rounds. People are fascinated with the delay of sound when getting shot at and its just one of those details in video games that really make you feel like you are in there! I hate seeing an explosion 80m away and instantly hear it. Please please please pay attention to that stuff. I hope it is not to late to change stuff like that... The "whizz" sound which is supposed to represent the bullet crack I guess is too long, it never really is a "whizz", its always just a high pitched crack, I am sure you watched many videos for reference... You can keep the "whizz" but make it shorter. I hope you read this... :) I read in the comments that DICE fixed the Hotel Sign? Thank you a lot for that! Fans will thank you much more than I can do, since I am german, haha. :) Have a nice day guys!

There's a shot at 0:58 and a couple afterward that seem like you hear the proper sound distinction (impact/whiz before gunshot) but the rest seem to be a little more muddled. DICE has an exceptionally talented sound effects crew so I have all faith that they will do an exceptional job. And thanks to DICE for being so in tune with their community of fans!!

I have to disagree, not that sound isn't important, but with the physics. The sound of the crack of the bullet will be heard after the sound of the impact due to the fact that a .50 caliber round moves at over 4 times the speed of sound. The crack of the bullet will not be heard for several seconds until after that bullet is past your head. Second, if it does impact something in the area you can still hear the crack of the bullet breaking the sound barrier before it hits the target, although it will not sound as close.

the speed of sound in dry air is 343 m/s and of a ( "soft" in weight) .50 cal is 928m/s... so is less than 3 times the speed of sound :PPP p.s. @ DICE, we want more details for the sound effects of all weapons!! the sound effects, for me, are the 30% of the game!!! not hearing the M1911 like in black ops as a non-tuned drum... FAIL!!!

100% AGREE! I know there is alot of realism in this game that must of took huge effort to create, but the sounds & actions that we (players) are going to hear/experience over and over in the game are most important (IMO) to be accurate so it doesn't stop the flow of the gameplay. BTW: I Goggle BattleField 3 Every Freakin Day!!!!!!!!!

there are significantly smaller rounds that are faster than a .50cal such as the m200 cheytec intervention and that only sports a .408

Ok I just skimmed your wall of text so I may be misunderstanding what you are writing, but.... Assuming they are around 500 yards away, at that distance, you would hear the impact first, then the rifle. At 800 yards there would be a very noticeable gap between the rounds impact and the sound from the rifle. You have to remember, these rounds move around 2800fps, much faster than sound. The sound engineer did not mess any of this up.

******* spot on dude. It's a trait (sounds) that not many games get right. The Bad Company had the reverb for rooms and decent firearm effects, whereas CoD had ****** MIDI sounding repetitive weapon sounds. Either way thanks for bringing this up for DICE before the release XD

DICE's Sound Engineers, are the best in the business. They even did field acoustics of actual war games for this soon to be amazing game.. Just listen to that filtered *** bass.. The sound will be Phat. Where as C.O.D. has ZERO skill in sound design.

Hi there, as Schneider707 stated, The sounds are spot on. there is ab-so-lutely- nothing wrong with what the sound engineers have done. I am a sound designer myself. and unless you can tell me that you were shot at by a sniper 50 meters or what ever distance he is standing at. you have no say in how it sounds. From you logic, i hear " i watch a lot of movies, and this is how they need to sound" - same goes for any gunshot. in movies, Guns are loud and powerful! which is great! but a 9mm round sounds like a pop gun compared to the movies. i don't intend to sound snarky. but from what i hear in the video is how it would sound. i've been on military bases where live fire has occurred. at a distance no more than a football field. - no the bullets were not being fired at me, but i remember the gun sound coming back almost twice from the reverb and natural ambience. this is spot on. they have paid SO much attention to the sound. i love them. :D

The sound engineers may know what they are doing, but they have to make a decision at some point whether to go with realism, or a sound design that fits better with the general intuition of most people, i.e., that the sound and vision of an event occur at the exact same moment. AT-4 missile flight time approx 3.5 secs @ 950 fps= 3325 ft to target 700 grain .50 muzzle velocity 2950 fps, @ 1000 meters about 2000 fps, median velocity 2500 fps. bullet time to target =1.3 seconds bullet breaks sounds barrier mid-barrel, supersonic muzzle report emerges first @ 1100 fps =3 seconds to target. gases leave barrel last and rapidly expand in all directions excluding direct path of bullet, sound ricochets off terrain and reaches target area almost immediately after the crack >3 seconds to target. this is simple observation with no basis on audio only video.

yea he is a rookie, but in the beginning all will be like him... with those buildings around and all of these spots it would be very hard to spot the enemy SNIPERS... I REALLY LIKE THIS!!! hehehehe...:P

I have both PS3 & 360 and had no intentions of building a new pc until I new that BF3 was coming out... SOOO I built a new gaming PC just because of this game...

guys...im calling consoles users (PS3 and XBOX360)...we have to let DICE know that we want a BF3 sequel from BF2(PC version) not a sequel from BFBC2 (console version)...let them know that we want the real thing, the real BF, I played BF2 (PC vrsion) and is AWESOME, lets together tell DICE that we want BF3 not BFBC3 for consoles, we are as good and competitive as a PC gamer...please join me on twitter and let DICE know what we want...

you would get the full thing, if your console was good enough to run it, that is why box and ps dont get the full thing, they dont have anywhere near enough power to run this thing on high. so, build a new gaming pc

Im with you all the way, at first I thought it would be a sequel to BF2 PC, with jets,choppers, tanks, humves and all that. But the more I see this videos leads me to believe it would be another BCBF sequel, not BF3, which is disappointing me. I was really saving up for a new rig, but im having second thoughts now. We will see.......

Dice is just mixing what people like from the bc2 to and bf2 which they think should create an awesome game, but they are also focusing on PC more than consoles, not that it wont be good for consoles, its just that its going to be better on PC

Console users eat your hearts out! Consoles are nowhere near as powerful as PCs. It is an insult to play BF3 on a console! Rob a bank or become a gigolo if you really want to play this game to the fullest of its capabilities by buying a PC. GRENAAAAAADE !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The Hotel was writen in arabic backwords in BF2. It was also written worng in The first trailers of BF3 but this latest video shows that they fixed it, because it realy looked stupid :-)

In the Gameplay Debut trailer, they wrote the sign like ( ق د ن ف ) which is wrong, the Arabic letters stick to eachother, aside from the fact that they wrote it in wrong way, more like writing hotel like ( Letoh ) So they fixed it to be the real word ( فندق )

Man, more single player. No one buys a Battlefield game for single player. I would much rather have the computer bots form BF2 for single player. You can practice driving vehicles, learn the maps, and still play if the connection is bad. Lets bring the bots back to BF3. Does anyone else agree?
