Heligoland Bight: All You Need to Know

Battlefield™ 1 Premium Pass owners can now tackle the North Sea campaign of Battlefield™ 1 Turning Tides, which brings two more maps, the British Empire’s Royal Marines, and the C-Class Airship to the amphibious mix.

In this post, we will deep-dive into the characteristics of Heligoland Bight, an immense map where air, land, and sea fight for dominance, giving you an experience like nothing else in Battlefield 1.

Where and when is the map set?
Taking place off the shoreline of Germany, Heligoland Bight is influenced by the first naval battle of World War 1, fought on August 28, 1914. Key sectors include the famous red cliffs of Bunker Beach, the tall rock pillar standing near the lighthouse, a man-made wave breaker wall opposing a wrecked German cruiser, and the neighboring Dune Island.

What armies and game modes are available on Heligoland Bight?
You’ll fight alongside the British Empire Royal Marines or join the ranks of the German Empire. As the quintessential naval map of Battlefield 1, the immense scale and focus on vehicular combat is ideal for Conquest Assault, the only game mode available on this map.

What kind of gameplay is Heligoland Bight suited for?
The vision for Heligoland Bight focuses on highlighting the amphibious combat of Battlefield 1 Turning Tides, so apart from infantry you’ll fight with planes, torpedo boats, Y-lighters, L-Class Destroyers, Dreadnoughts, and the fearsome C-Class Airship. There shouldn’t be any difficulty finding amazing, vehicular Battlefield moments on this map.

What kind of Battlefield moments?
They can be anything! Maybe you’ll find yourself in an Attack Plane delivering heavy damage to enemy torpedo boats, followed by a daring strike against an Airship one pitch maneuver later. Or, you might be leading a bold charge with L-Class Destroyers to sink the enemy’s massive Dreadnought, as it fends off cannon fire from the beaches.

Will Dreadnoughts be able to fight each other?
They sure will. To escalate the naval warfare, we added Dreadnought vs. Dreadnought combat. These massive behemoths spawn for each side and can shell capture points over the map’s two islands. Prepare for some intense naval combat; the side that loses its Dreadnought first will be at a big disadvantage.

How has the community helped shape the map?
Heligoland Bight has evolved thanks to community feedback when the map was included on the CTE (Community Test Environment). Balance between air, land, and sea is crucial on a map like this, and the community has been invaluable in providing feedback about this balance.
