HOW TO EARN AND SPEND YOUR CASH IN HARDLINE

The flexible progression system is new for Battlefield Hardline. What this means is that instead of earning “experience points” or “score” for actions you perform, you earn in-game “cash”, which you can then use to permanently unlock weapons, gadgets, and other upgrades.

As this is a new system, you might not know how to use it. This quick guide will give you some tips on ways to get off to a good start.

Check out each class listed below in any order – if you’re having fun, you’re doing it right!

OPERATOR

Tips:

Try Conquest, Blood Money, or Heist, they have more targets for the Operator to engage. Burst fire the starting carbine, control the recoil. Engage at medium range where possible. Purchase a magnified optic when you can.

Stick with your teammates and heal them. Use healing for your team by placing it behind cover or where it can’t get easily exploded or shot.  Get the Revive gadget and help your team – but be smart about it.

Equip any high powered Eliminate Boosts once you warm up to the class.

Good Gear:

Purchase the AKM and the M16A3. Get those Molotovs to burn out the enemy.

MECHANIC

Tips:

Playing as the Mechanic is especially effective in Hotwire. Drive the objective cars around for one round when you first start playing. This will give you enough cash to buy the Repair Tool under the Mechanic’s gadget slots. After you buy and equip the tool, make sure you’ve opened your starting Battlepacks and use any Objective boosts. Ride in passenger seat of a teammate’s objective car and repair him, you’ll get awesome income. Remember that you can stick out of the window to blow up enemy vehicles with the grenade launcher, but duck back inside the car to avoid as much fire.

Good Gear:

Purchase the K10 and the P90. The Armored Insert and Sabotage Device are good tertiary choices, as well. You’re going to need that Sat Phone at some point too, but it’s not that useful in Hotwire.

When you can afford it, purchase the vehicle armory RPGs for your sedan’s trunk. Bring your squad with you and share the RPG love.

Don’t Neglect the Battlepacks!

Now that you’re bringing home the bacon, start farming Battlepacks for objective boosts. Upgrade your weapons with the attachments you are getting from Battlepacks as well.

ENFORCER

Tips:

The 870 is king in close quarters. Learn your effective range and play inside it. Your pistol can also be super effective – especially the Beagle. Learn the requirements and obtain it.

Always throw ammo behind cover or concealed where teammates are – getting it blown up in the street doesn’t get you any points.

Good Gear:

Purchase the SCAR-H and the SA-58 and learn how to use them. These are powerful weapons useful at many ranges. Pick up the Ballistic Shield, and get the gas mask and gas grenades to go with the shield.

The Ballistic Shield is a great upgrade to keep your teammates alive. Take the bullets meant for them by crouch walking in front of them with the shield. Now’s not a bad time to use any powerful Teamplay Boosts you might have – block with the shield, throw down the ammo.

The breaching charge is incredibly powerful. You can use it for evil or for good, your choice.

PROFESSIONAL

Tips:

Learn the Scout. Love the Scout. Its high lethality and high cyclic rate make it a fearsome weapon indeed. Master this rifle and you’ll have a reliable tool that’s as accurate as you are. Support your team by killing enemies at the objective, and make sure to spot as much as possible for your team.

Good Gear:

Purchase the next step of rifle that fits your style – AWM / R700 for bolt actions, the SR-25 or PTR for DMRs.

The Camera is an often overlooked gadget that can be exceedingly valuable. Try it out in Crosshair and get points for the kill or the assist when it spots the VIP. Learn Stealth Training and use it in Rescue to sneak up on unsuspecting enemies and interrogate them after a quick stun.

Tripmines are great too, especially near objectives. Always have 2 out at a time near choke points.

Purchase the stun gun. Use it to drop close range enemies in a hurry, but don’t miss. Afterwards, remember to interrogate them if it’s safe. Unlock that MAC-10 sidearm, it’s a beast.

GO PLAY!

You’ve read all the way to the end, it’s time to play! Once you’ve got all the gameplay unlocked, that’s when you’re finally actually playing the full game. Now, time to master each of the modes and specialize in your favorite ☺

…and think about the upcoming Criminal Activity expansion pack and what new things it might bring!
